Unique Features of Japanese Partner
Single Software as a Multilingual Platform
The Japanese Partner globalizes Japanese in Windows and provides superior compatibility of multilingual processing to computer hardware, Windows platforms and Windows application software. You can easily edit and print Japanese and English texts into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage, Sun StarOffice, Outlook, PageMaker, PhotoShop, PeachTree, Eudora, MSN Messenger and other MS compatible applications.
Japanese Input Methods
Japanese Fonts
The Japanese Partner CD includes a full set of Japanese fonts with “Typical” installation for 6 Japanese fonts. You may add more fonts to your system by selecting the “Custom” installation with a full set of 14 fonts available. [Sample]
Unicode and ANSI fonts. Fonts are provided in both Unicode and ANSI formats. Unicode font face names begin with “TSC”, such as “TSC JpnMincho” (a Japanese font). They are to be used in Unicode applications. Non-Unicode ANSI font face names begin with “Jpn”. They are suitable for ANSI applications.
Selection of Internal Code
When the language preference is Japanese, it toggles between Japanese EUC (JIS) Code and Japanese SJIS Code . The Japanese SJIS and JIS codes include 6,700 Japanese Romaji, Hiragana, Kanji and Katakana characters and symbols.
Supports both Unicode and ANSI Applications
Unicode is fast becoming the mainstream standard in the software industry. Applications such as those in Microsoft Office 2000/XP Suite are Unicode conformant and are suitable for processing multilingual documents.
Non-Unicode ANSI applications are still supported. Legacy ANSI (non-Unicode) applications can be used in their native encoding standards. Examples: Adobe PageMaker and Eudora.
Single Cursor Text Processing
Single cursor text processing means cursor movements on any character work the same way as English characters. In the Unicode mode, the cursor will no longer walk into an East Asian character and there is no possibility of scrambling the text. This improvement is especially significant as more and more applications on the market are Unicode compliant and supported by the Japanese Partner.
Friendly User Interface
The Input Prompt Line allows total control of the input environment and enables the user to input CJK characters with ease.
In addition, the Control Center provides intuitive and powerful system functions. It occupies a very small space on the screen when floating and can be hidden as an icon on the Task bar. All functions of the Control Center can be accessed by mouse clicks or keystrokes.
Variable size and floating feature meet users’ needs.
Extensive Help system is ready to assist you at all times.
Tip of the Day facilitates learning of the software.
Control Center
The CJK Partner Control Center is displayed as a toolbar, which contains a collection of buttons, as shown below:

Utility Programs
Super Code Converter
TwinBridge Japanese Super Code Converter has three major functions. Each function can be performed alone or in conjunction with other functions.
It converts the Japanese internal code of a file from one code standard to another.
Super Code Converter enables file conversion among major Japanese code standards as well as among several content formats. It allows conversion among JIS, S-JIS and Unicode documents in text (ASCII) file and in RTF (Rich Text Format) file.
This is an important utility which helps convert existing documents to Unicode documents. The user can also convert a Unicode document to ANSI file format such as the JIS and S-JIS, so that the document becomes compatible with many systems currently in use. For example, JIS and S-JIS Japanese documents can be processed by previous versions of TwinBridge Japanese Partner.
It can add or remove space padding between Japanese characters for proper auto-text-wrapping in non-MS Office applications.
It can convert a Japanese document written with TwinBridge Japanese Partner v4.x or earlier so that the document can be used in MS Office 2000/XP with Unicode format.
Meta Converter
In certain graphics applications, direct input of Japanese characters may not be possible. Meta Converter is designed to export Japanese characters to the Clipboard or a file in Windows Graphics Standard Meta Format (WMF). The user can then transfer the data to a graphics application such as CorelDraw and AutoCAD.
Single-Byte Converter
When a graphics format can not be used (such as the Text Path function in certain applications), the Single-Byte Converter can be employed as an alternative to the Meta Utility. Basically, the Single-Byte converter creates a new single-byte TrueType font (similar to the "Symbol" font) based on the Japanese character input. Documents using a font thus created will always display properly on any Windows-based computer (provided the new font is delivered along with the document) because the character output is independent of any language support system. Please note that each font created by the Single-Byte Converter can only hold a maximum of 188 characters.
